Looking SW over Rhedynog Goch & Ty Pellaf farmhouses to Henllwyn bay & lighthouse on South End, Bardsey Island, Gwynedd. Farmhouses & yard built 1870-75 by Lord Newborough. Lighthouse and buildings designed by Joseph Nelson, completed 1821, lantern renewed 1856, further additions 1909. Tower battered externally and square in section, built of ashlar, 99 feet high, originally painted white changed to red-and-white in 1891. It causes the deaths of 1000s of migrating birds so spotlights and ponds have been constructed to bring confused birds safely to grass or water.
