ISTANBUL, Turkey / Türkiye — Sarcophagus tub with depiction of the myth of Phaedra-Hyppolite, made of marble, from Tessalonica (Selanik) and dating to the Roman period around the first half of the 2nd century AD on display in the main building of the Istanbul Archaeology Museums. The Istanbul Archaeology Museums, housed in three buildings in what was originally the gardens of the Topkapi Palace in Istanbul, Turkey, holds over 1 million artifacts relating to Islamic art, historical archeology of the Middle East and Europe (as well as Turkey), and a building devoted to the ancient orient.
