In the presence of two very intelligent gentlemen, I again measured the Washing-ton Course, on Saturday last, agreeably to your request. We measured it exactlywhere the horse that has the track generally runs, sometimes two and a half feet fromthe ditch, sometimes three and a half feet. We made it seventeen hundred and forty-Beven yards, one foot, and nine inches; of course, less than it ought to be by a fewyards, but nearer the mile than this, it will be impossible to bring it.
