Black wildebeest (Connochaetes gnou). This antelope, also known as the white-tailed gnu, was driven to near extinction by over-hunting for its thick hide, and agricultural development. It is now only found on protected game farms in southern Africa. It is a social animal that lives in large herds, which once migrated great distances. It feeds on leaves. Photographed in Mountain Zebra National Park, South Africa.
