Salmonella enterica bacterial culture on XLD-Agar, which is a selective culture medium used in the isolation of Salmonella and Shigella species. Salmonella colonies typically grow colourless with a black centre. Salmonella enterica can cause gastroenteritis, bacteraemia, or enteric fever, but may be asymptomatic.
