At Fort Pickett, Soldiers learned to manage fuel pipelines by pumping nearly a million gallons of water-- which simulated fuel-- from a base terminal to the end of line. The pipeline management exercise not only involved pumping fuel, but also required the unit’s petroleum supply specialists to pack, load and move pipeline more than 100 miles within one day. The two-week annual training also involved firing a 50 caliber machine gun, M16A2 rifle, and other weapons. At the end of the mission, Spc. Justice reenlisted; Pfc. Kinghorn was promoted to specialist; and Pfc. Shephard and Pfc. Thapa were recognized from the 383rd Quartermaster Battalion with commander’s coins for their outstanding dedication and work they did during annual training. 1016th QM Soldiers complete annual training 150611-A-QL246-819
