Aerial view of Melamchigyang, one of the largest & oldest villages in the Langtang conservation area, inhabited by the Hyolmo/Yolmo ethnic community

Melamchigyang is a small village in Nepal's Langtang National Park along the Helambu Trekking Route, with a large community of Yolmo (Hyolmo) people. Believed to have been founded in the 8th-9th century, it holds great religious significance for Tibetan Buddhists, as Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) was said to have spent some time there. Today, people come to visit the Nyinda Rengjon Meditation Cave where Guru Rinpoche meditated.
