Commence the second rowwith a stitch in two threads, then takefour, and so proceed. Gold beadstastefully introduced have a very pretty effect. 6. Josephine is a very pretty stitch for Bagswith gold or silver braid, and is executedin stripes from the bottom to the six threads straight, and proceed to the end ofthe row ; after which, take three lengths of braid,and work one of them in Cross Stitch, diamondstyle. 7. Berlin Stitch. Work this stitch in a scollop,taking six threads straightdown. Much of the beauty ofit depends upon the contrastof colour (having an eye toharmony) in the threads.
