Shooting Butt on the N/E side of Carn Liath above the Well of Lecht on route to the Scottish Mountain Carn Mor (a Corbett)

This grouse butt on the northern slopes of Carn Liath overlooks the Well of Lecht where the natural spring commemorates Colonel Lord Charles Hey and the five companies of the 33rd regiment that built the military road from here "to the Spey", at Grantown-on-Spey in 1754. A Corbett is a Scottish Mountain between 2500ft (762m) and 3000ft (914m) with a drop of at least 500ft () of which they are 220 and take there name from John Rooke Corbett who first classified them.
