Cortical Homunculus Illustration

In the brain, different areas of the cortex control different parts of the body. A cortical homunculus maps brain areas dedicated to sensory and motor processing for different anatomical divisions of the body. Parts of the body are represented based on how large a part of the cortex is engaged in the sensory or motor function of that part of the anatomy.
