BayCity had become almost at a bound abooming frontier lumber town! The open-ing of the Flint & Pere MarquetteRailroad to Detroit in 1867, marks an-other epoch in the citys growth and develop-ment. In 1868 the village of Wenona acrossthe river, now the West Side of the united city,came to the front through the building of theJackson-Chicago branch of the Michigan Cen-tral, and in 1871 the Bay City-Detroit Branch.
