Allen, resided in Hubbardston, but in 1901removed to Princeton. 9. Alson J., sec forward, (VII) Alson J, Greenwood, youngest child ofSilas Greenwood (6), was born in Hubbardston,September 27, 1829. He attended school and as-sisted on the farm during his youth. He learnedthe shoemakers trade and followed it for about five. WORCESTER COUNTY 275 years. He preferred farming, however, and returnedto the homestead. After his fathers death he pur-chased the interests of the other heirs, and has sinceconducted it. The farm contains one hundred andeight acres of improved land. He and his son,Arthur D. Greenwood, also own other real estateamounting to about two hundred acres. They arealso interested in the lumber business. The farmis noted for its tine stock and general productive-ness. In politics Mr. Greenwood is a Democrat. Hewas assessor of the town in 1875-78-81 and hasbeen continuously since then. For the greater partof the period between 1872 and i8g6 he was a se-lectman and for three years chairman of the boardof selectmen. He has also been overseer of thepoor and collector of taxes. He is a member ofHubbardston Grange, Patrons of Husbandry, andhas
