Worker at ORDVAC Computer


Worker at the console of the ORDVAC (Ordnance Discrete Variable Automatic Computer), an early computer built by the University of Illinois for the US Army's Ballistics Research Laboratory. The computer, whose purpose was to perform ballistic trajectory calculations, became operational in 1951.
