The "sucking" in- sects feed by inserting their sharp, slender beaks into the interior of the leaf, blos- som, stem, or fruit. They cannot eat plant tissue, hence cannot eat poison. They must therefore be killed with a preparation which kills by coming into contact with their bodies; in other words, by a contact insecticide—"Black Leaf ; The most common of these insects are the aphids (plant lice), thrips and leaf-hoppers.
