Located on the waterfront on Holmen the Opera House is a gift to the city from Danish shipping magnate Sir Mærsk McKinney Møller It is named after Queen Margrethe II The Opera House shares the area with 17th century red brick warehouses barracks and foundries that now house the Royal Academy schools specializing in drama film design architecture and music The area also houses galleries restaurants and new housing The focal point of the Opera House is the large floating roof with a 32 meter long cantilever covering the curved foyer The Royal Ballet also uses the new house The auditorium seats nearly 1400 guests The orchestra pit accommodates up to 110 musicians The studio stage seats approximately 200 guests
