Picture the happiness and enthusiasm of the followers ofthe chase as they arise on the bright, clear morning of the hunt,filled with the anticipation of a gala day of sport across fieldand stream; picture their feelings of rare satisfaction told by thetwnnkle of the eye and the brisk rul)bing of the hands as they C BATTERY HISTORY lOT view with keen delight the sight of the beagle hounds, who,anxiously awaiting the pursuit are already eagerly romping andsniffing about the barn yard. Picture this scene and you havethe feelings of our Jockeys as they stepped forth from ourpaddock on the morning of April 2d to attend the Grand Sweep-stakes
