The arrangement of the Pratt Streetpower house is unusual in the fact thatthe boiler house is placed between twoengine rooms. When the work of re-construction was undertaken by thepresent consulting engineers of thecompany, one of these engine roomswas equipped with five 2000-kw alter-nators driven by reciprocating engines,while the other contained one 5000-kwengine-driven alternator and three1800-kw direct-current generators.
