Water dissolved away bubble-shaped holes in this unusual room at Cave of the Winds, near Colorado Springs, CO

Only five miles from a major city, Cave of the Winds is a real treasure. Unfortunately, most of the cave is closed to the regular public in order to preserve the amazing formations that would be damaged by simply opening the cave passages back up to the dry high desert air - but that still leaves plenty to see, particularly if you are looking for the odd, the abstract, and the merely wonderful.
