VASE SEVRES (Vaisseau A mat) This splendid specimen is of curious form, representing an ancient galley, with its sail nearly furled, the holes round the vase being intended to contain hyacinths, or other bulbous roots, which flower in water. It is banded in green and blue, and is of the finest painting and decoration, being of the period 1750 - 1755. This vase forms the centre of three, the two companion vases being equally fine in quality.
