In weak times and strong, the common thread that has bound Ottawa naturalists since 1879 - indeed, since 1863 - is an overwhelming desire to contribute to the protection and enhancement of the natural features and values that make this place so special. At the end of the day it comes down to the fact that James Fletcher, Frank Pope, Percy Tavemer, Sheila Thomson, Edward Van Cortlandt, Herb Groh, Gordon Hewitt, and the rest of us are not that different ... we're all just Ottawa field naturalists.
