The Khan at Burj' Binyamina ,a caravanserei

The khan of Burj' Binyamina was built in the mid 19th century by the Turkish rulers as a rest farm ,on the ruins of a previous Byzantine settlement. The Baron Rothshild bought the farm from its Turkish owners and turned it over to the Jewish settlers in the area of Zikhron Yaakov as part of his grand plan for the establishment of settlements in the area . In 1898 the German Kaiser Wilhelm II stayed here on his way to Jerusalem. Binyamina was founded in 1922 and named after the Baron Edmond Benjamin James de Rothschild. Givat Ada was established as an agricultural settlement. The main farming branches were field crops and vegetables, and later, grapes. The Khan has been refurbished in part and is used for festive events .The farm lands attached to the farm were divided amongst the settlers of Binyamina
