The bird struggles to hold on to its huge catch CHANDIGARH, INDIA HILARIOUS images show a cormorant catching a fish too big to fit in its mouth. Images show the cormorant victorious in the hunt but ultimately underestimating the prey's size as it will not fit down the slim line bird's gullet. Cormorants are medium-to-large birds, with body weight in the range of kilograms and wingspan of 60?100 centimetres. The majority of species have dark feathers. The bill is long, thin and hooked. Their feet have webbing between all four toes. All species are fish-eaters, catching the prey by diving from the surface. They are excellent divers, and under water they propel themselves with their feet with help from their wings, some cormorant species have been found to dive as deep as 150 ft. These images were captured by businessman Anuj Jain (45) from Chandigarh, India. Anuj captured the cocky cormorant in Chandigarh, India on his Nikon D750+200-500mm. ?I saw this Great Cormorant catching a fish. But this time it caught a fish that was a little too big for it to swallow,? said Anuj. ?The bird struggled with the fish for quite some time but had to ultimately release the fish for it to live another day. ?Cormorants catching this big fish is not a common sight. ?I felt lucky to have witnessed this awesome moment. I felt particularly happy for the fish that it got so close to being eaten but then got a chance to live another day. ?My favourite shot has to be the one where the cormorant almost managed to bring it in a position to swallow but failed. ?There is something valiant about the effort it is making but also comical knowing it will never swallow a fish that size."
