Blue plaque on the former home of Phyllis Broughton, Margate, Kent, England


India House in Margate was the home of Phyllis Broughton who first appeared in the Canterbury Music Hall in Lambeth in 1876. She progressed to musical comedy in the Gaiety Theatre London in 1880 appearing in plays including The Earl and the Girl in 1903. She was one of the famous Gaiety Girls, the chorus girls of Edwardian musical comedies.
