Coast Guard, who lost his right arm in a sea fight off Casablanca, November 9, 1942, is still in active service as instructor in horsemanship at the Coast Guard Horse Patrol Training Station, Philadelphia. With his left hand and the aid of his teeth, he is able to saddle and bridle his own mount and cover the difficulties of the training course with the best of his pupil riders. He is a former U. S. Cavalryman, joined the Coast Guard in 1939.
