Photograph taken from the top of Christchurch Priory. Christchurch Harbour was formed about 7,000 years ago when the sea level rose at the end of the Ice Age. Christchurch Quay and Quomps lie in the upper reaches of the harbour and on the northern banks of the River Stour.
