Statue of Carl von Linné, Carl Linnaeus ( 1707-1778 ) by Carl Eldh ( 1873-1954). The statue was erected on the forecourt of the Linnaeus Museum in Uppsala in 1930. The museum is the former home of Linnaeus during his tenure of the chair of Medicine at Uppsala; he lived in the building (in the background of the picture) from 1743 until 1778. The statue overlooks Linnaeusâ garden, which has been restored and laid out according to his sexual system for the classification of plants.
