Nycticorax caledonicus common names: Rufous Night Heron, Nankeen Night Heron; in Melanesia Melabaob. Distribution: throughout much of Australia (except the arid inland), Indonesia, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Melanesia. A small colony has also established near Wanganui, New Zealand.
