When tamed andbroken they are especially adapted for use in herding cattle uponthe great ranches of our western plains, and for this purpose thegenuine Mustang is the chief reliance of the herdsman. They arebred, herded and branded in about the same manner as that prac-ticed by our western ranchmen with their immense herds of sires, as well as stallions of the various draft breeds,have been used upon Mustang mares with excellent results in mostcases.
