The Tilak family lived on rent in Indirabai Gore’s house. At that time, LokmanyaTilak’s father worked as a teacher in Ratnagiri. Tilak’s native village was Chikhalgaon in Dapoli. Tilak’s birthplace in Ratnagiri has been preserved by the Archaeological Department of the state of Maharashtra and it has been declared as a memorial.
