Vintage photo circa 1890s of British statesman Joseph Chamberlain (1836 - 1914). Chamberlain, the father of Austen and Neville Chamberlain, was a successful businessman before becoming Mayor of Birmingham and subsequently an MP in 1876. He was an influential voice on various issues and held government posts as President of the Board of Trade (1880 - 1885) and Secretary of State for Colonies (1895 - 1903).
