Castrop-Rauxel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany - New construction of a bridge -Sprung über die Emscher-, a foot and cycle path bridge over the Emscher and the Rhine-Herne Canal. Construction project EMSCHERLAND, a 37 ha water and nature experience park at the water crossing of the Rhine-Herne-Canal and the renaturalized Emscher river at the city border of Recklinghausen to Castrop-Rauxel. EMSCHERLAND will also be a future garden of the International Garden Exhibition 2027. Before renaturation, the Emscher river system was an open, above-ground wastewater canal, combined sewer with surface water and wastewater.
