View from Brooklyn Bridge, 20th century. Bird's-eye-view of New York City, USA, with people and trolley buses crossing the Brooklyn Bridge, USA. This suspension bridge passes over the East River between the suburbs of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The bridge is 2065 metres long. When the bridge was opened in 1883, it was the world's longest suspension bridge (a record it no longer holds). The bridge was designed by John Augustus Roebling and its construction was begun by his son, Washington Augustus Roebling. This photograph, which dates from between 1907 and 1915, is from the Bain News Service.
