", Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany - Controversial war memorial for those killed in action of Infantry Regiment No. 76 in World War 1, erected in 1936 on Stephansplatz near Dammtor. The seven-metre high block of shell limestone, designed by the sculptor Richard Kuoehl, was erected on the initiative of former members of the infantry regiment. Around the block runs a relief of 88 life-size soldiers marching off to war. The inscription reads: Germany must live and if we must die.
