The Common Peafowl is an Indian bird, theBurmese Peafowl being found not only in Burmah, but in Siam, Cochin China, the Malay Peninsula, andand ■ii\\^ BURMESE COMMON HEADS OF PEAFOWL At present I believe the only species of Partridgethe Society have to exhibit is the Greek Partridge(^Cacabis saxatilis). Despite its name, this species isnot by any means confined to Greece, but ranges west-ward through the Balkans, Carpathians, Appenines,Sicily, to the Pyrenees. It is a typical Red-leggedPartridge, very similar to the species introduced intoBritain under the name of French Partridge, but islighter and less richly coloured. The last game bird that has been added to thecollection is the Mexican Quail {Callipepla squa-mata) one of the Scaly Partridges, but though Ihunted for these birds in the aviary in which theywere said to have been placed, I failed to find them. Since the above was written a male of the beauti-ful Prince of Waless Pheasant {Phasianus principalis)has been added to the collection. 69 35irD {Pictures at tbe IRoval aca^einv. By H.
