Monument of Jaan Tõnisson Tartu Estonia


Jaan Tõnisson (1868- date of death unknown). The legendary statesman (Prime Minister, Head of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs) and the owner and editor-in-chief of the newspaper Postimees. Occupation forces imprisoned him in 1940 and his fate is unknown. The monument was opened in 2001, the metal net behind the statue symbolises media.
