The northern location of the Antarctic Convergence is due primarily to the bottom topography: as the Antarctic Circum- polar Current (which has its greatest flow along the Antarctic Con- vergence) flows eastward against the South Antilles Arc it is deflected to the left by the Coriolis force; after the current passes over the ridge it bends toward the south again. The data are winter values.
