Game rangers in the Kruger National Park are working to protect the animals and environment against wildlife criminal syndicates in South Africa

The fence along the Kruger National Park's western boundary stretches for 320km from the south to the north. While rangers patrol the park daily it has proven difficult to completely keep out poachers. Some of the poachers are believed to come from communities along the park and use mostly snares to entrap animals either for consumption or for sale of meat. There are also bands of organised crime syndicates who poach for ivory. Photo: Lucas Ledwaba/Mukurukuru Media
