A10, De Nieuwe Junction and Amsterdam-Oud Zuid, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Saturday 24th February, 2024. Extinction Rebellion, staged a blockade on the A10 in Amsterdam this afternoon; fifteen minutes after the first demonstrators walked on to the motorway police started to make arrests. A total of 326 arrests were made and 31 remained in custody. The remaining 295 were transported by bus to Amsterdam Noord and released. Just prior to police intervention the activist were warned that batons and pepper spray would be used, thou this did not occur. The demonstration took place by the former ING Bank head office. Extinction Rebellion wants the bank to stop financing the fossil industry. Photo caption.
