Dark matter and Abell galaxy cluster. This is galaxy cluster Abell 901/902. This image is a combination of a Hubble Space Telescope dark matter map and a visible-light image. The dark matter is the red-tinged areas, and the image shows that the galaxies that make up the cluster lie within dark matter clumps. Abell 901 is millions of light years from Earth, in the constellation of Leo. The visible image was from the MPG/ESO telescope in La Silla, Chile. This image is part of the Space Telescope Abell 901/902 Galaxy Evolution Survey (STAGES).
