The Mekong River is one the world's storied rivers. It is the world's 12th longest river land and a major trade route in Southeast Asia, running though China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The Mekong basin is one of the richest areas of biodiversity in the world. The river is lined much of its length with house boats and wooden shacks.
