Original 1900's postcard promo card for Pear's soap - illustration of an angelic Victorian child Victorian boy, blowing bubbles with clay pipe was taken from an1886 painting by Sir John Everett Millais originally titled a Child's World, but renamed Bubbles once it was sold to Pears for the famous Pear's soap advert. A bar of Pears soap can be seen in the bottom right of the picture. This painting became one of the most reproduced advertising images ever. It depicts Millais’s four-year-old grandson William Milbourne James. Millais was the youngest ever member of the British Royal Academy.


Sir John Everett Millais, (8 June 1829 – 13 August 1896) was an English painter and illustrator who was one of the founders of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood.
