Neither the letter nor the blile print indicates whether steam or hot water is used, except that from the size of the return pipe it is probably hot water. In either case the return is sufficient for both houses. To heat the new greenhouse to 60 degrees, run a 2Mj-inch flow pipe on each of the plates, and place eight 2- inch pipes under the east bench and six on the west wall posts. If the south end is much exposed, it might be well to run a third flow un- der the ridge, and with it feed four 2-inch pipes, two of which can be car- ried in either direction around to the north end of the house. In addition to these returns, there should be flye on the east and three on the west side. A PENNSYLVANIA ADDITION. I intend to build one house, 22x150, this summer, building it at the north side of my present houses and taking out the present side wall. Please tell me how much 1%-inch pipe will be re- quired to carry a temperature of 60 de- grees in zero weather and what size of supply pipe would be suitable U. G. H. One of the simplest methods of piping a house such as described is to run a 2%-inch flow pipe two feet below the ridge and use nine 1%-ineh returns. A part of the returns can be under the benches, or in the walks if solid beds are used, but most of them should be on the walls. In case the end of the house is much exposed, it will be well to start the wall coils at the middle of the farther end of the house and carry them along the walls back to the end of the house nearest the boiler.
