A cave-hermitage on Holy Island in Lamlash Bay, used in early C6th by Irish St Molaise is kept clean & used as a shrine by Tibetan Buddhists.
A cave-hermitage used by Irish St Molaise in the late 6th century is kept clean and used as a shrine by Tibetan Buddhists, owners of Holy Isle & St Molaise's Cave since 1993. The cave became a pilgrim destination in the Middle Ages after a monastery was founded at the NW of the island near the present pier. A small sunken Latin cross is carved on the boss of rock at the front of cave roof above the white bowl.
