Vintage photo of Irish-American boxer John H Clark (1849 - 1922). Clark, nicknamed "Professor", was born in County Galway, Ireland, but spent most of his life in the US. He was active during the 1870s, 80s and 90s and is most famously remembered for taking part in one of the greatest lightweight bouts in history - an epic battle with Arthur Chambers for the Lightweight Championship of America in 1879 in which Clark was defeated after 136 rounds.
