This image may not be used to state or imply the endorsement by NRAO, AUI or NSF of any company or product Abell 2744 galaxy cluster, radio image. Also known as Pandora's Cluster, this grouping of galaxies includes shockwaves from several collisions that set off radio (red) emissions. This image uses radio data from the Very Large Array (VLA). The VLA observations have revealed previously undetected regions where shocks accelerated subatomic particles, causing radio emission. Abell 2744 is nearly 4 billion light years distant, in the constellation of Sculptor. The results of the observations were published in 2017.
