McNeil, of West Newton, Mass., is skipper of the USS Callaway, the Coast Guard-manned invasion transport which the Navy reported today as "back in action" after being attacked by Japanese planes in the Sulu Sea prior to the Luzon landings. The Coast Guard-manned ship suffered nearly 50 casualties and damage to her superstructure when an enemy attacker planted a bomb near her flying bridge.
