Sofer finishes final letters the Chabad of Harlem's Sefer Torah in Harlem in New York

Members and friends of the Chabad of Harlem finish the final letters of their Sefer Torah in Harlem in New York on Sunday, October 27, 2013. The ten year old synagogue commissioned the hand-written parchment scroll (which contains 304,805 Hebrew letters) two years ago. Harlem was once home to over 200 synagogues before the Great Depression and current census records have shown that the caucasian population now outnumbers african-americans. (© Richard B. Levine)
