Discuss New Wholesale Market. A well-attended meeting of growers was held at the Parker House, Boston, Mass., December 6. An excellent dinner preceded the meeting. Guests from a distance included W. R. Pierson, Crom- well, Conn., and A. M. Henshaw, New York. S. J. Goddard presided and, after a few introductory remarks, asked W. C. Stickel, the president of the Wholesale Flower Exchange of Boston, to speak on the arrangement of the new wholesale flower market, wliich will soon displace the old Cyclorama building on Tremont street. Pictures were passed around showing liow the completed l)uilding will look. Mr. Stickel said the building commit- tee's plan was a progressive one, ;illow- ing for tlie addition of another storj- on the front of the l)uilding and the erection of a new building on the War- ren avenue side, wliich will vield a floor total of 20,000 sijunre feet. The substantial floors are reinforced con- crete, with vitrified brick set on end on top. This floor is both sanitary and water])roof. A small fortune would be needed to lay such a floor today, bricks alone costing $5 ])er hundred. There are forty adjustable windows for ven- tilation on top of the building. The main floor is now square and is ?veil lighted by a huge skylight of rein- forced glass, which will practically elim- inate the use of electric lights. Plenty of Space. On the Warren avenue side there will be j)arking space and in addition a long platform leading to the market proper through double doors. By this means l)oxes can be loaded and unloaded ((uickly with a minimum amount of handling. There will be additional parking spaces in Montgomery square and on adjoining streets. A large hall way in one corner of the building lias just been discovere
