He extends his left hand to the deer standing next to him, who looks up to him and lays a front leg against Aegidius' leg. He is dressed as Benedictine, has large tonsure, partly covered by the sagging hood of the pipe, under which the blunt tip of the left shoe emerges. The leg is included under the arm, under which it also clamps a foliant. The wound of the arrow on his chest is visible through the pipe, the hermit and Benedictine abbot
