Santiago Chile Estadio Victor Jara Stadium formerly Estadio Chile Chile Stadium.

Santiago Chile boxing, volleyball and basketball stadium. Renamed in 2004 from Estadio Chile in Estadio Víctor Jara, Victor Jara Stadium. This is the stadium where famous Chilean singer Victor Jara was held, tortured and murdered in the 1973 military coup. Not to be confused with the National Stadium or Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos, which was also used as a prison site during that coup. Detainees of Chile Stadium were only transported there when Victor Jara had already been murdered. Estadio Chile held between 4000 and 5000 people. 5000 according to Victor Jara's last poem and letter to his wife. Estadio Nacional has held 40,000 people and was depicted in the 1982 Costa Gavras film Missing.
